Dazy is a hoarder. This is a disorder that probably only happens in the U.S.A.
People are obsessed with their "stuff" and spend many hours shopping and stocking up on enough supplies to get through a huge California earthquake.
One thing that I am certain of, you cannot change a hoarders ways.
Every slip of paper, every magazine article is saved. Dazy has every thing she has ever possessed since early childhood.
I have told her on three occasions, "I do not read magazines". she has purchased for me at least 3 dozen magazines on various subjects from "Men's Health" to "Raising Rabbits".
Not only are people, like her attached to their things to the point of paying for 2 or more storage units, at a cost of $350 per month.
Dazy is now half into her 3rd month of paying 2 apartment rentals,( over $1, 600) She can't get motivated to get rid of anything.
I have told her I am her personal assistant and driver, I am not her mover. I recommended professional movers. She has chosen instead to hire friends and neighbors, at $20 per hour, to assist in her move. If she has succeeded in moving by the end of this month it will be a huge hoard moved to her new location. Boxes and piles of magazines and clothes. Every time I see her apartment it inspires me to clean and discard unused items in my own clutter. I think their is a hoarder inside most of us. Throw out that stuff, and stop shopping!
